{"id":457,"date":"2020-08-05T13:43:10","date_gmt":"2020-08-05T13:43:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wearesmile.com\/help\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=457"},"modified":"2021-03-15T12:31:38","modified_gmt":"2021-03-15T12:31:38","slug":"regenerating-user-passwords","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/wearesmile.com\/help\/documentation\/regenerating-user-passwords\/","title":{"rendered":"Regenerating User Passwords"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Depending on your own user role and its level of permissions, you may have the power to reset the password(s) of your colleagues or staff in the case that they find themselves unable to access the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This can happen for a number of reasons \u2013 commonly due to forgotten passwords or misplaced activation emails \u2013 but is easily dealt with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pg.bham.ac.uk\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/83\/2020\/03\/Annotation-on-2020-03-17-at-10-42-30-1024x662.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-188\"\/><figcaption><em>Step One<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Log in to the site and navigate to the affected user\u2019s settings page by clicking their name in the user list.<\/li><li>Scroll down to the \u2018Account Management\u2019 section and click \u2018Generate Password\u2019.<\/li><li>Here you have the choice to create your own password or use the one generated for you. Whichever you choose, please make sure to copy the password and paste it somewhere safe for the short-term.<\/li><li>Now scroll to the bottom of the page and click \u2018Update User\u2019 to complete the process.<\/li><li>The user\u2019s password has now been changed.
