Two common reasons for this are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The file is large and risks impacting site performance.<\/li><li>It is not possible access the original video file itself.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"1570\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 2794 \/ 1570;\" width=\"2794\" controls src=\"https:\/\/wearesmile.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/08\/copy-youtube-embed-link.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gutenberg makes this super easy. Firstly, you\u2019ll need to copy the embed link from YouTube. Click the \u2018Share\u2019 button underneath your chosen video. A pop-up window will appear. Click \u2018Copy\u2019 next to the embed link in this window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"1570\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 2794 \/ 1570;\" width=\"2794\" controls src=\"https:\/\/wearesmile.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/08\/embedding-in-gutenberg.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, navigate to the page editor where you want to embed the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Add a new block either from the + button at the top of the page or beneath an existing block in the page body.<\/li><li>Select the \u2018YouTube\u2019 block.<\/li><li>You will be prompted to paste the embed url in a text field. Do this and click embed and your video will appear in place on the page editor, complete with poster image pulled from YouTube itself.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternatively, as long as you make sure you are in a new empty block, simply pasting the embed url will be enough for the editor to automatically embed the video for you.
