Plugin or Theme Requirements
Your site may require the installation of plugins or themes, either free or premium, to achieve certain functionality, such as enhanced form behaviour or advanced SEO tools.
Where possible, SMILE will recommend using plugins or themes that are reliable, secure, and meet your needs. For premium plugins or themes, we will prioritise those for which we already hold a license key and/or subscription, allowing you to access the premium version without additional cost—one of the great benefits of being a HappyPress customer.
Our available premium licenses include:

- SearchWP (and its official add-ons)
- Blocksy and Blocksy Companion Pro
- ACF Pro
- Heroic Knowledge Base
- Rank Math Pro
- The Events Calendar Pro
- Gravity Perks
- OnCourse
For free plugins or themes, SMILE will evaluate their compatibility and security before installation. However, please note that we cannot guarantee the performance or reliability of third-party free plugins sourced outside of our recommendations.
New Premium Licenses
In cases where a new premium license must be purchased, you may:
- Choose to purchase the plugin licence yourself
- Please provide installation files and instructions to our support team and we will (if accepted) install these files into your instance.
- Pay SMILE to purchase the plugins for you.
If you choose for SMILE to purchase the plugin licences, SMILE will:
- Purchase an Unlimited License (if available)
Unless specified otherwise, SMILE will obtain an unlimited-use license.
- License the Software to SMILE
- The plugin or theme will be licensed to SMILE, ensuring our support team can collaborate with the plugin’s support team if needed.
- Please note that plugins licensed to SMILE cannot be transferred. If you migrate away from our services, you will not retain access to this license.
Associated Costs
If a new premium license is required, you will be invoiced for:
- The cost of the plugin license on an annual cadence.
- An annual fee set at 33% of the license cost.
- A ÂŁ120 set-up fee, which includes purchase of the plugin and ensuring the license key is correctly entered for your website. This does not include plugin configuration.
For plugin configuration assistance, please request a bespoke quote.
Plugins requiring configuration at the Network Admin level will require assistance from SMILE, and therefore will incur additional charges for SMILE to configure the necessary options.
Case-by-Case Review
Each plugin or theme handles licensing and functionality differently. If necessary, SMILE will discuss any purchases with you on a case-by-case basis to ensure transparency and clarity.
Terms and Conditions for Third-Party Plugins
1. Customer-Installed Plugins
Customers may request the installation or activation of third-party plugins, either free or premium, not included in our standard offering. While SMILE will review such requests for basic compatibility, we cannot guarantee the security, functionality, or performance of any third-party plugin.
2. Assumption of Risk
By requesting the installation or activation of a third-party plugin, the customer acknowledges and accepts:
- The plugin may introduce potential vulnerabilities, conflicts, or performance issues.
3. Limitation of Liability
SMILE shall not be held liable for any issues, including but not limited to:
- Security breaches, data loss, or unauthorised access caused by vulnerabilities in third-party plugins.
- Loss of functionality or site downtime arising from the installation, activation, or updates of such plugins.
- Supporting any vulnerabilities, conflicts, or performance issues caused by customer-installed plugins.
4. Customer Responsibility
Customers are responsible for ensuring their requested plugins meet their security and functionality requirements. We strongly recommend selecting plugins from reputable developers and sources.
5. Right to Refuse Installation
SMILE reserves the right to decline installation of any plugin deemed to pose a significant security risk or compatibility issue.
6. Indemnity
Customers agree to indemnify and hold harmless SMILE, its employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, or liabilities resulting from the use of third-party plugins installed at the customer’s request.
