Adding New Users

It is possible for users with certain permissions to draft new users onto a WordPress site. To find out which specific users have this capability on your site, please check the relevant documentation if your site has it. If not, please reach out to support@wearesmile.com and we’d be happy to help.

Navigate to the Users section in the backend. You will see a list of all the users on the site, filterable by user role. You can click on any user’s name to edit their profile and set their roles. Most of the time you will be allowing users to edit their own profile but you do have this control if required.

Click ‘Add New’ next to the ‘Users’ heading in this section to add a new User to the site. Here you have two options for adding new users to the site with an important distinction. Use ‘Add Existing User’ to add users who already have an account for another sites(s) on your platform. Begin typing in their name/username and WordPress should find them. Tick ‘Skip Confirmation Email’ to add them to the site without alerting them via email.

To add a brand new user, who does not already have an account on any other site on your platform, use the instructions lower down on the page under ‘Add New User’. You will need to create their username as well as entering their actual first, last names and email address. They will receive an email containing an activation link which they will need to click in order to register.

When creating a new User, make sure you select the correct User Role in accordance with the ‘User Roles’ documentation for your site. If your site does not have documentation, please contact support@wearesmile.com for further assistance.
