Deleting a site

We understand there may be times when you no longer need a site in your network and wish to have it removed. While your dashboard gives you lots of control over your sites, site deletion is something that only the SMILE team can carry out. This helps us ensure nothing is removed accidentally and that your network remains safe and stable.

Can I delete a site myself?

No — for security and stability reasons, site deletion isn’t something available directly within your dashboard. Instead, you’ll need to request deletion from us.

How do I request a site deletion?

You have two quick and easy options:

  • Live Chat: Use the live chat widget in your dashboard. It’s the fastest way to reach us, and our whole operations team has eyes on it. This helps us respond promptly, even if some team members are away.
  • Service Desk: If you prefer, you can raise a support ticket via our Service Desk form. Please include the following details to help us process your request quickly:
    • The exact name of the site you’d like to delete
    • Confirmation that you’re happy for it to be permanently removed
    • Any deadlines or urgency around the request

What happens next

Once we’ve received your request, we’ll:

  1. Confirm the details with you — we’ll double-check the site name and make sure you’re absolutely happy for it to be removed.
  2. Schedule the deletion — our team will carry this out safely in the background.
  3. Update you once the deletion is complete.

Important to note

  • Deletion is permanent. Once a site has been deleted, its content cannot be restored. If you’re unsure, you may want to back up any data before making a request.
  • If you think you might want to re-use the site in the future, please speak with us about alternative options before requesting deletion.

We know it can feel like a big step to permanently remove a site. Please don’t worry — our team is here to support you through the process and make sure it’s handled with care.
