Experience Your Future, with Coventry University

Coventry University has been running online events throughout the 2020 pandemic. But with digital fatigue setting in, they wanted to take a different approach to applicant visit days. To stand out from their peers, they turned to SMILE.

Coventry University were eager to create an online experience that was different from the online events student prospects have seen in the last 12 months. We worked with the university to provide a strategy, platform and presence for Experience Your Future — a week-long event full of live and on-demand content for both offer-holders and prospective students.

Because of our experience in online events, we were able to provide Coventry University with insight on how to run successful and engaging events. We worked closely with their internal teams on design, communications and logistics.

Coventry University were able to begin producing the event quickly thanks to the use of Hijack. As the university required a distinct look and feel with a bit of distance from the core university brand, SMILE produced a custom microsite for the activity to live on.

Using the university’s student data, offer-holders were sent links to bespoke areas created just for them. Alongside this, wrapper experiences were created to showcase the wider university experience categorised by themes. Anyone that had not been communicated with directly would also be able to view the wrapper content.

After the week of live content, prospects can watch the sessions back, but no longer be able to engage.

Experience Your Future Festival at Coventry University

This project was a new style of online event for SMILE. Even though we are versed in online events, this was a new spin on the idea and something that Coventry University are keen to carry forward to future events. To make this possible, we built Coventry University’s event in a way that allows re-use. This made their investment even more valuable by creating an asset that doesn’t just have a single-use lifespan.
